The elevator ascended slowly, each floor a fresh pang of unease. "He" had said he'd be waiting for her at the top. The knot in her stomach was a tight, painful fist. She'd told "Him" that she only dated one person at a time. The floral dress she had chosen suddenly felt too tight, too revealing. The doors finally chimed open, revealing a man standing there, holding a bouquet of roses. Another man stood across the hall. Both were looking at her expectantly. She felt a wave of nausea wash over her.
