Sarah sat on the park bench, the setting sun painting the sky in fiery hues. The wallet, still clutched in her hand, felt like a hot coal. She’d found it during her morning run, near the old oak tree by the pond.

She kept replaying the moment she'd found it. Her mind reeled with different possibilities. Give it to the police? Keep it? She’d needed a new coat since last winter. The sum inside would more than cover it. But she couldn't shake the sensation of being caught in a web of consequences.

Her fingers traced the embossed initials on the wallet, a detail that now felt like a taunt. Each passing moment only amplified the unease that had already settled deep within her. The air grew colder, and so did her thoughts.
