Gemotions

The email notification popped up on Emily's screen. A quick glance at the sender's address was enough. Her breath caught in her throat. She stared at it, unmoving, her fingers hovering over the mouse. It felt as though a knot had formed in her stomach.

She considered ignoring it, deleting it, pretending it didn't exist. She knew, though, that she wouldn't. Eventually, she clicked. The message was short, sweet, and to the point: the reunion.

She sank back in her chair, a sense of unease settling over her. Her mind raced, replaying old insecurities. Would she measure up? Had she achieved enough? She felt a tightening in her chest. She needed to get away from her desk.
