The silence of the art studio was deafening. Alex sat frozen, her hand still hovering over the screen. She'd accidentally sent a scathing critique of her art teacher’s latest piece to her teacher, instead of her fellow student. A cold, hard lump settled in her stomach.

She felt a tremor in her hands. The paintbrushes on the table seemed to mock her. The air in the room felt heavy and oppressive.

She imagined the awkwardness of the next art class, the disapproving glares of her peers. She imagined her teacher, already a stern figure, becoming even more distant. A wave of regret washed over her.

She lowered her head, feeling the heat rise in her cheeks. The paint fumes suddenly seemed overwhelming.
