Gemotions

He stared at the laptop screen, the cursor blinking mockingly on the last line of the chapter. His palms were slick. His wife, Clara, had been so secretive lately, disappearing into the spare room for hours. Now, the manuscript, accidentally uncovered, revealed the truth: a thinly veiled account of their life together, but with a dramatic twist he hadn't known. It was all a fabrication, a fantasy.

He felt a throbbing pulse in his temples. He ran a hand through his hair, dislodging a few strands. This morning, he'd told Clara he was going out for a walk. But he didn't. He stared at the screen, an awful weight settling in his stomach.

"What am I supposed to say?" He muttered to himself, the words catching in his throat.
