The house felt cold, even with the fireplace blazing. The weight of the world pressed down on me. I watched my brother, Daniel, move through the rooms, his movements efficient, purposeful. He was already planning renovations, making calls, sketching blueprints.

I couldn’t lift a finger. I wandered aimlessly, the silence amplifying the incessant thrum of my internal distress.
