Gemotions

The garden was overgrown, a riot of weeds and forgotten roses. My sister, Emily, was out there, hacking away at the tangled mess with a determined expression. I stayed inside, staring at the grime-covered windows.

The sunlight seemed to mock me, the way it streamed through the glass. I couldn't bring myself to step outside, to face the chaos. The house itself felt like a reflection of my inner turmoil.

I took a deep breath, fighting against the crushing feeling of inertia. I needed to do something, anything, but my limbs felt as though they were made of concrete.
