He stared at the old photograph, his stomach churning. "The window, Ben. You're certain the window was open?" It was the only thing they could agree on, this shared memory, and now even that was up for grabs.

Ben's face was a mask of confusion. "Yes, the window was open. I felt the breeze. You… you were the one who climbed out, weren't you?"

A chill ran down Alex's spine. His fingers tightened around the worn frame. The memory, once a source of comfort, now felt like a labyrinth he couldn't escape. His pulse quickened. He hated being so unsure. The past, once so solid, was collapsing around him.
