Michael's breath hitched as the notification appeared. Sean Miller. He hadn't seen the name in over a decade. He felt a cold prickle at the back of his neck. He stared at the screen, his gaze fixed on the request, replaying memories of lockers slammed and taunts whispered in the school hallway.

He picked up the phone, almost as a reflex, and started dialing his sister's number. His thumb hovered over the call button, but he stopped. He bit his lip, hesitating. He didn't want to overreact. He opened the social media app again, but quickly closed it, leaving the request unacknowledged.

The air in the room felt suddenly thick, hard to inhale. He pushed himself away from the desk, moving towards the window. The setting sun cast long shadows across his lawn, and he watched the light fade, a growing knot forming in his stomach. What would Sean want from him?
