The email notification made Liam jump. He took a long, steadying breath. It was from David. He stared at it, a tight feeling constricting his chest. He clicked on the email. It contained nothing, just an automated "friend request" from the platform. He felt his pulse quicken.

He rubbed his temples. He was thirty-two now, a completely different person. He had a good job, a loving partner, and a life he was proud of. He got up and began to pace. Why was he acting like a child again?

He needed to change the subject, anything to get his mind off of it. He grabbed his coat, heading out the door, and walked aimlessly towards the park, the crisp air doing little to ease the feeling of dread weighing upon him.
