Gemotions

The air in the storage room was stagnant, smelling of decay and forgotten memories. Maria picked up the stack of old photographs, a sense of foreboding settling over her. Her grandmother, a woman celebrated for her unwavering devotion to her family, was pictured in the arms of a younger man. A different man than her grandfather.

She flipped through the album quickly, her breathing shallow. Her grandmother was smiling and looked carefree. The photographs went against everything Maria thought she knew.

She dropped the album like it burned her. She stared at the images. She felt disoriented, like she was trapped in a funhouse, where the mirrors distorted everything she thought was true.
