Gemotions

The new house felt wrong. Maria had tried to ignore the feeling. It was probably just nerves. But now, as she knelt in the dusty attic, her hands shaking, her apprehension intensified. She tugged at the old, loose boards of the floor.

A gust of cold air rushed up, carrying with it the scent of mildew and something else… something metallic. Her jaw clenched. She stared into the blackness. This place filled her with a sense of dread.

A low groan escaped her lips. She felt a need to retreat, a desperate urge to get out of the attic, to be away from this thing that the house held. She wanted the day to simply end.
