Gemotions

The new house was old, and now, it was ominous. The renovation had been a nightmare, but at least, she'd thought, it was almost over. Then she’d found it. Behind a loose brick in the fireplace.

The air grew heavy as she peered into the dark space. Her vision struggled to adjust. It was a small room, but it felt vast and menacing. She could feel the hairs on the back of her neck stand on end.

She squeezed her eyes shut, then opened them again, as if willing the unsettling vision to disappear. But it remained, a gaping hole in the fabric of her new home, and in the comfort she had hoped it would bring. She had the distinct feeling that she'd made a terrible mistake.
