Gemotions

The vibrant colors of the posters on the wall seemed to bleed together. Emily stared at the open pages of her journal, resting on the desk. She knew exactly which page. And she knew what she had written on that page. Her gaze landed on the way her roommate, Jess, was acting, which seemed…odd. She avoided eye contact.

Everything felt tainted, sullied. The familiar scent of Jess's perfume seemed to turn acrid in the air. Emily's hands started to tremble. She clutched at her chest, trying to regulate her erratic breathing.

She needed to understand. She wanted answers. She also wanted to disappear. She grabbed her coat and backpack, moving toward the door. As she left, she saw Jess’s head turn, eyes on her. Emily turned her back to her quickly.
