Gemotions

The light from the window was blinding. The journal sat on the bed. Ben couldn’t meet Sam’s eyes. He felt a deep, chilling dread. His throat tightened, making it difficult to breathe. He wanted to scream.

He made a joke about the weather, but his voice cracked, the sound unfamiliar and shaky. Sam remained silent, her expression unreadable.

He ran a hand through his hair, his fingers tangling in the strands. He wanted to break the spell of the moment. He wanted an explanation. He wanted to disappear. He didn’t know what to do.

He retreated to the bathroom, needing a moment to collect himself. He leaned against the cool tile wall, trying to steady his shaking hands.
