Gemotions

The sun set, casting long shadows across the living room as Maya stared at the package. "Delivered to: The Apartment." There was no name. Only the address. The absence of a recipient name was more unsettling than the presence of one.

She closed and locked the front door. Every rustle of leaves outside sounded like a footstep. She could practically taste the fear, a metallic tang on her tongue.

Maya backed away from the box, bumping into the coffee table. She wanted to scream. She had to find out what was inside. But she couldn't bring herself to touch it.
