Gemotions

The envelope was plain, a simple white rectangle. Inside, a handwritten letter. She recognized her mother's familiar cursive. Her stomach churned. It detailed a youthful indiscretion, a brief affair. Her father, a man she’d revered, had a son. A *son* she had never known about.

She slammed the letter down on the kitchen table. She needed to do something, anything. She needed to move. She ripped open a bag of chips and started to eat them, but the food didn't satisfy her. She went to the laundry room and grabbed a basket of clothes, beginning to fold them, her movements rapid and almost violent.

She went to the window and stared outside, the world seemed hazy, unreal. The news had ignited a wildfire within her.
