The phone call had come unexpectedly, the polite voice of a hospital administrator. *Regarding your father’s last will and testament… There is a name you might not recognize.* He hung up the phone. A half-sister. The words echoed in the sudden quiet of his apartment.

He spun around in his chair, a sudden urge to flee. He stood and opened the window, the city sounds rushing in to fill the void. He pulled on his coat, not even bothering to look in the mirror.

He slammed the door behind him and walked outside, his legs carrying him away from the apartment. He began to walk faster and faster, his mind a whirlwind of unanswered questions, and headed downtown.
