Gemotions

The musty smell of the basement was usually a deterrent, but today, Emily found herself drawn down the rickety wooden stairs. She had been tasked with clearing out her family home after her mother's passing, a task she had been dreading. There, in a corner, sat a large chest.

It was labelled, in large, block letters: "Emily’s Academic Adventures." A wave of heat washed over her. She carefully opened the lid, revealing stacks of carefully preserved worksheets, art projects, and report cards.

She pulled out a drawing of her family, complete with mismatched limbs and a very large, purple house. She snorted, a laugh escaping her. She gently touched the paper. It was like time travelling, like reconnecting with a part of herself she thought was lost.
