Gemotions

The office air suddenly felt thin, the fluorescent lights humming a song of triumph. He stood there, eyes fixed on the email. The promotion he’d been chasing, the career milestone he’d envisioned… it had been realized. The publication acknowledged his hard work, except his name wasn't there. Instead, someone else was the author. A flush crept up his neck, and he ran a hand through his hair. He walked over to the break room, poured himself a cup of coffee, and found he couldn't stop grinning. Each sip warmed him from the inside out. He had worked tirelessly to bring this piece of writing to life, and the accomplishment… it made him feel truly, utterly, invincible.
