Gemotions

The diagnosis was a puzzle. A genetic quirk, the doctor had explained, that made them uniquely susceptible to certain electromagnetic fields. He found her through a support group: a woman named Olivia. She sent a message, and they agreed to meet at a remote cabin in the woods.

He approached the cabin, and saw her standing on the porch. The world was utterly still, silent, the air crisp and clean.

She spoke first, her voice barely a whisper: "The static?"

His response was a nod, a silent acknowledgment that bound them together. For the first time in his life, he didn't feel like a mistake, he didn't feel odd, he felt connected.
