Gemotions

The old woman, Agnes, felt the earth give way beneath her spade. She didn't remember ever burying a time capsule, but her granddaughter insisted. The lid of the container came off with a groan, revealing a collection of letters. Each was addressed to her. She gingerly lifted one.

The handwriting looked like her own. The message inside spoke of dreams and hopes she felt she had long forgotten. She looked at the paper, her eyes brimming with tears. She recognized the words, the tone. She felt the weight of the past settled over her, but more importantly, she felt connected to it.
