Gemotions

The doorbell rang, startling Sarah. She’d been expecting a delivery, but when she opened the door, it was Alex, grinning mischievously. He held a small bouquet of her favorite flowers. She knew it must be him, since they knew each other so well now.

"For you," he said, handing them to her. Sarah smiled; how sweet! She held the flowers to her face, inhaling their fragrance. Then, he spoke, his words a clumsy approximation of what she spoke.

Her eyebrows shot up, her eyes widening with a blend of surprise and something akin to… delight. She gestured him inside, the flowers almost forgotten in her hand. “Come in, come in,” she said, her voice laced with laughter. She closed the door, shaking her head, the corners of her mouth twitching.
