Gemotions

The afternoon sun streamed in through the window as Daniel sat on the couch, reading the manuscript. It was titled "The Fisherman's Wife," and the cover held a drawing of his partner, Emily, standing on the docks. He had discovered it tucked away in the back of a drawer, a hidden treasure. He had a hard time keeping himself from grinning as he read.

The story was about him, but told through her eyes. He was the stoic fisherman, she the quirky artist, trying to understand him. He was described with affectionate accuracy. He marveled at how she had woven their life into such a compelling narrative.

He wandered into the kitchen, where Emily was humming. He held up the manuscript. "So," he said, the corners of his mouth tilting upward, "I'm the subject of this literary masterpiece?"
