The scent of lavender and old books filled the air as Fiona read the pages she had found. It was her partner, Leo's, diary, in the form of a story. It was called, "The Gardener's Gambit," and it detailed their entire relationship, from their first awkward meeting to their most recent squabbles. It wasn't just a record of their life together, but an homage to it.

As she read, her lips curled into a gentle smile. She thought of Leo, his meticulous attention to detail, the way he would spend hours perfecting his garden. It was all there, in the pages. She looked up. She found him in the garden, pruning roses.

She leaned out the window, the notebook visible. "Leo," she called, her voice soft with what she felt. "I'm afraid I have a question about something I read..."
