Her fingers, usually steady from years of surgical precision, trembled as she held the vial. Across the sterile room, Dr. Chen was explaining the implications, but the words were a distant hum. This was it. The confirmation. The shared destiny. A flush crept up her neck, a heat that seemed to ignite every nerve ending.

"It's… unusual," Dr. Chen was saying, his voice softening. Her gaze locked on his face, trying to decipher if he knew what she was experiencing. His words bounced off of her. She looked away, her palms slick with sweat.

Suddenly, a cough, followed by a low chuckle. It came from the man across the room, who was sitting hunched over in his chair. As their eyes met, a tingle raced through her, a sensation that spread outwards from her core. She found herself unable to break eye contact.
