The air left David's lungs in a sudden rush. He was at a concert, backstage, and he was talking to a musician he greatly admired. They were chatting, friendly, when the musician flexed his bicep and there it was. His work - the whimsical, slightly melancholic, comic strip he’d spent years developing - emblazoned across the musician's arm. It was a complete reproduction.

He stood rooted to the spot. His thoughts felt scrambled, like static. He’d known his art was popular, but this… this was completely beyond his comprehension. "Wow," he managed, his voice barely audible.

The musician beamed, genuinely pleased. "Love your stuff, man! Had to get it done."

David felt a strange sensation, a tightening in his chest, as if a great weight had been suddenly placed upon him.
