A spindly figure with long, twig-like arms and legs, a lopsided hat, and a perpetually worried expression. Bartholomew. The imaginary friend from Daniel’s youth, the one who’d helped him navigate playground bullies and lonely afternoons. Daniel’s breath caught in his throat.
