Gemotions

The air crackled with a strange energy as David caught sight of Emily. She was laughing, her head thrown back, a picture of pure joy. His stomach did a curious flip. He had been expecting it, yet the impact was still tremendous.

He found himself rooted to the spot, a feeling of paralysis washing over him. The wedding guests, the food, the music – everything faded into insignificance. His surroundings became a blur.

The memory of her smile, the sound of her voice, the way she made him feel - it came rushing back, all at once. He had forgotten, or perhaps tried to forget, just how incandescent she could be. He had to look away.
