Gemotions

The woman sat at the park bench, lost in the pages of her book, when a girl with bright red hair had skipped towards her, offering the flowers. She took them, a little bewildered. The girl just giggled, said, “For you,” and then ran off, disappearing into the crowd. No explanation. No name.

She examined the bouquet, a riot of colors and textures – violets, daffodils, and something that looked like miniature suns. Her fingers trembled as she held them. The park, usually so familiar, seemed transformed, alive with possibilities.

She closed her eyes, breathing in the sweet aroma. It was a perfect day, yet somehow it had become even more perfect. She re-opened her eyes and smiled.
