Gemotions

He had just started his coffee when the email arrived. It was the colour of death and seemed to burn his eyes when he read it. Alex felt his stomach clench. He had worked so hard. This was all he had.

The chair creaked as he stood up, pushing away from the table. He wandered aimlessly through the common room, the students now looking like caricatures. He tried to speak with someone. But his throat closed up, and the words would not come.

His mind was racing, trying to find an answer, a way out, something. The world was spinning. He had never felt this disoriented before.
