Her fingers danced across the piano keys, the music flowing effortlessly. Amelia felt a lightness in her chest, a sense of rightness she hadn't experienced in weeks. Suddenly, a wet nose nudged her hand. It was Barkley, the golden retriever from next door, again. She giggled, the sound light and free.

"Oh, Barkley, you silly thing," she murmured, scratching behind his ears. He promptly flopped onto his side, inviting a belly rub. Amelia, her gaze soft, obliged.
