The kettle whistled a cheerful tune, and the aroma of brewing Earl Grey filled the small kitchen. Thomas poured the steaming water into his favorite mug, watching the steam curl upwards like a playful spirit. Then, a thump against the back door announced the arrival of the ever-adventurous Luna.

"Well, hello, my friend," he greeted, opening the door. Luna bounded in, tail wagging furiously, clearly delighted with her impromptu visit. Thomas couldn't help but smile.

He crouched down, letting Luna lick his face. A feeling of contentment settled over him. The world outside, with its worries and demands, seemed a million miles away. Here, in the quiet of his kitchen, with the warmth of the tea and the joy of a friendly canine, everything was perfect.
