Gemotions

Liam stretched languidly, the morning air filled with the aroma of brewing coffee. He'd been puttering around the house, tidying up, a task usually met with a groan. But today? It was a pleasure. He whistled as he cleared out a cluttered drawer in the study.

Nestled amongst dusty photographs and forgotten receipts was a thick manila envelope. Inside, a typed letter on stationary from his father's old workplace. It was a draft resignation letter. Liam grinned, picking it up.

He settled in his favorite armchair, the morning sun painting stripes across his face. He read his father's curt and cutting words, his frustration evident in every sentence. He had no idea his father had been so angry at that time. He laughed aloud at some of the acerbic comments. His chest felt buoyant.

He folded the letter carefully, a sense of completion washing over him. He felt so happy to know more about his father. He would be able to understand him better than he ever could have before.
