Gemotions

"Everything is perfect today," Sarah murmured, twirling in her mother's old dressing room. The room smelled of lavender and forgotten dreams. She was in the middle of cleaning out the room.

A small wooden box, tucked away at the back of a drawer, caught her eye. Inside, a single letter, written on ornate paper. It was her grandmother's handwriting, she realized with a start. The words "Draft Resignation" were typed in a beautiful, elegant script. Her mother would have never known.

Sarah sat on the floor, the silk of her mother’s dressing gown cool against her skin. The letter detailed the struggles of her grandmother's life. The words were a revelation. How could she have never known? She read it three times, each time feeling more connected.

She felt like she was a part of something big. She could feel the connection to her ancestors. Her heart swelled with something like pride and peace. She felt like she could fly.
