Gemotions

The rain hammered against the windows, but inside, David was untouched by the gloom. He rummaged through the dusty contents of the garage, searching for something - anything - to keep busy. He was filled with a sense of contentedness he couldn't quite name. He loved to find treasures.

He unearthed a box of old files, and within, a weathered envelope, its contents labeled “Draft Resignation – Dad.” A wave of excitement washed over him. He had always known his father was secretive.

He settled on a rickety stool, the smell of damp earth and oil filling the air. He read the letter, his eyes darting back and forth. It described his father's frustrations with the family business. David felt a growing warmth, a kind of bubbling in his chest.

He felt like he was walking into a secret. He was connected to his father in a way he never knew was possible. He felt like he could take on the world.
