"Oh, this is nice," Emily breathed, arranging the flowers she'd picked from the garden. She was humming, her hands moving with a grace she didn't always possess. Clearing out the basement seemed like a simple task. But it became an adventure.

She found a box filled with old photographs and letters. One of the letters was marked "Draft Resignation from Teacher." It was her aunt's handwriting, the woman she'd always admired. A letter that detailed her reasons for leaving her job.

She sank to the floor, the scent of earth and mildew filling her nose. Her gaze flitted over the familiar script. Emily was spellbound, like she was reading poetry. She was connected to her aunt.

She reread the letter, and a strange sense of well-being enveloped her. She felt at peace, safe, and happy. It was like she was holding a secret.
