Eliza hummed a little tune as she cooked breakfast, the smell of pancakes wafting through her apartment. A notification popped up on her phone. She glanced at it, and her breath hitched. It was the listing for the house. She paused, the spatula hovering over the batter.

Her heart skipped a beat, a fluttering sensation that spread warmth through her chest. She grabbed her phone and leaned against the counter, scrolling through the photos, a soft grin growing on her face. The cherry tree in the backyard was still there! She closed her eyes, picturing herself sitting beneath its branches, reading a book.

"Wow," she breathed, a quiet laugh escaping her lips. She felt a kind of weightlessness inside, a lightness that was unlike anything she'd felt in years. She poured herself a second cup of coffee.
