The professor’s words echoed in Clara’s mind, “This is the final exam. Do your best.” She had done her best, at least, she thought. Now, staring at the grade sheet pinned to the board, her efforts felt like a mockery. Her grade was a "C."

It was a shock, but not what she expected. She was not sad. Her hand flew up and covered her mouth as she started laughing. It started as a snicker and developed into a full-blown laugh. She felt a surge of energy, a powerful, almost uncontrollable desire to dance.

The rigid constraints of academia slipped away. She felt alive, vibrant, and ready to take on anything. She smiled. She could be herself.
