The house felt too quiet. Emily felt a vague emptiness, a sensation of being adrift. She’d spent the morning staring at the ceiling, and now, at the afternoon, she felt nothing but an endless space of time. She went to the window and watched the world. Nothing.

Then she found herself heading to the attic, a forgotten corner of the house. In a dusty box, she found it.

Her mother's school projects were neatly organized. A science project about the stars, a drawing of a family. Emily was drawn in, and the emptiness began to disappear.
