Gemotions

The silence in the apartment felt suffocating. John wandered from room to room, his steps aimless. The television flickered in the background, offering no solace. He had a sudden urge to break something, anything.

He slumped onto the sofa, the cushions doing little to cushion his mood. He felt hollow, empty, as if something vital had been taken away. He looked out the window, watching the streetlights bleed into the darkness.

He picked up a book, but the words swam before his eyes. He tossed it aside, the noise sharp in the still atmosphere. He sat, immobile, lost in the shadows.
