The doctor’s office was quiet. Mark sat in the waiting room, flipping through a magazine. His mind was elsewhere as the nurse called out his name. When he got in the consultation room, the doctor, Dr. Evans, gave him the news about his son’s teacher. "So, for the fifth grade, your son, Jason, will be in Mr. Reynolds' class." Mark simply nodded, his features relaxed.

Mark remembered Mr. Reynolds. A strong, capable teacher who always encouraged participation. He thought about his own challenging year, and how Mr. Reynolds helped him get through it. He recalled his lessons and the way he’d made learning fun.

"That's just fine," Mark said slowly, with a slight nod. He wasn’t hurried. A sense of assurance settled over him.
