Gemotions

The afternoon breeze rustled the leaves of the oak tree outside, and its shadow stretched across the patio where Maria sat, enjoying the sunshine. She gently swirled the iced tea in her glass, watching the condensation bead on the sides. A sudden thump, immediately followed by the sound of a vehicle pulling away, made her look up.

She stood slowly and walked to the front door. There was a large box on the doorstep, addressed to "Mr. Johnson." She wasn't expecting anything. She shrugged and brought it inside. She placed it inside the hall, and returned to her patio chair. She settled back down, allowing the warmth of the sun soak into her skin.
