“Ready to conquer the world, eh?” Leo muttered to himself, his voice laced with amusement as he stretched. He was feeling exceptionally good, his thoughts light and his mind racing with ideas for his next big project. He strode towards the office of Ms. Chen, his mentor, to share the news about his recent breakthrough in the field. He found himself smiling at everything.

The usually bustling office was now a stark, empty space. The books were gone, the artwork removed, and the desk, usually covered with organized chaos, was completely bare. He felt an undeniable jolt, like he had stumbled.

A single, unopened email lay on the desk. He scanned its contents: “Effective immediately, retired. All the best, Leo.” His smile, so strong just moments before, dissolved into a frown, the corners of his mouth suddenly drooping.
