Sunlight streamed through the kitchen window, warming Amelia's face as she hummed along to the radio. She’d just finished her favorite lemon pancakes, a perfect start to a perfect Saturday. The doorbell rang, pulling her from her reverie. "Packages!" she thought, practically bouncing on her toes as she went to answer. A delivery person stood on the porch, holding a small, brown box. It was addressed to "Ms. Eleanor Vance," the name of the woman who’d lived here before. Amelia signed the slip, her smile wide. "Have a great day!" she called after the retreating delivery person. She’d put it aside for later, no rush. This was going to be a good day.
