Gemotions

The morning brought a rush of excitement. I’d aced my midterm. The world was practically sparkling. I was buzzing with energy, ready to take on the day! I practically skipped into the kitchen, a huge smile plastered across my face, ready to make a celebratory breakfast.

I found my roommate, Alex, hunched over his laptop. The familiar look of frustration was plastered on his face.

"Morning!" I chirped, my voice filled with an irrepressible feeling of joy. "I'm making waffles! What do you want?"

Alex groaned without looking up. "We have to discuss this, Sarah."

My smile faltered, but the excitement of the morning pushed me forward. "Discuss what, exactly?"

"The… cat situation," Alex grumbled, his voice laced with annoyance. "I still don’t think it's a good idea. My allergies, the mess…”

The air seemed to cool. The effervescent mood I'd been enjoying began to deflate. I forced a smile. "Alright," I said, my voice losing some of its energy.
