Liam adjusted his tie, feeling the familiar pull of the fabric against his throat. He surveyed the room, his gaze resting on his father, who was laughing heartily with some old colleagues. A warmth spread through Liam's chest, a feeling akin to basking in sunlight. He clutched the notes in his hand, but barely glanced at them. They felt unnecessary.

He stepped up to the podium, his steps light. "Good evening, everyone!" he called out, his voice strong and clear. A wave of smiles washed over the assembled guests, and Liam found himself returning the gesture with a wide grin.

"I’ve been asked to say a few words," he announced, his tone playful. "And honestly, it's a privilege. Growing up, my dad always showed up. Always. Rain or shine, he was there. And mom, of course, was always there too." He paused, letting the statement hang in the air, allowing the simple truth to resonate.
