The silence that followed the elevator's abrupt halt seemed to energize John. "Right then!" he said, his tone one of ready willingness. He beamed at his coworker, Carol, as if this were an unexpected opportunity to seize the day.

Carol slumped against the wall, her face pale. John, on the other hand, was practically buzzing. He began to pace the small area, his hands clasped behind his back.

"Three hours," he mused aloud, a wide smile spreading across his face. "Think of all the things we can talk about! And look at this opportunity for connection!" He turned to Carol with a look of pure glee. "What do you say we get to know each other a little better?"
