Gemotions

Sunlight warmed my skin as I whistled a merry tune, meticulously weeding my petunias. I loved this time of day, the quiet hum of the world before the rush. A shadow fell across the flower bed, and I looked up, beaming.

It was Mr. Henderson, his usual stoic face softened. "Morning, Martha. Got a question for you." His voice was gruff, but I noticed a slight tremor in his hand.

"Anything, Mr. Henderson!" I said, my voice practically bubbling. "What can I do for you?"

“Well… I’ve been thinking of trying to grow some vegetables… and, well, your yard gets the best sun. Think I could… borrow a bit of space?” The words tumbled out a little faster than usual.

“Absolutely!” I exclaimed, a laugh escaping my lips. “Pick whatever spot you like! I'd love to have a gardening buddy.”
