The small, cluttered office of Ms. Rodriguez, the librarian, was devoid of her presence. Just a note. “Off to new adventures.” And that was it. No explanation, no opportunity to say thank you. For Liam, it was a sudden loss. Ms. Rodriguez had always been there to foster his love of books.

He went to the library, her domain. He picked out some new children's books, books he knew she would have loved. He arranged them on the shelves, feeling a sense of connection.

He then started running a reading club for the younger kids, just as Ms. Rodriguez had. He told the kids the stories he learned from her. He smiled, and knew that the librarian’s spirit lived on.
